Pura Rodriguez, JD, MBA is the President and Managing Partner of A Physician's Firm, based in Miami.  She represents physicians, advanced practice nurses, and other healthcare providers from different specialties in a broad range of issues, including contract review, business planning and transactions, mergers and acquisitions, vendor and contract disputes, wish management, fraud and abuse compliance (Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark), HIPAA compliance, medical staff credentialing, employment law, and federal and state regulations.  She also assists providers in planning their estates, protecting their assets, and work visa requirements.

Pura was born and raised in Puerto Rico, then moved to Miami in the year 2000 to continue her post-high school education.  After graduating from Florida International University in 2004 with a Bachelors of Business Administration degree and as a founding-member of their pre-law fraternity Phi Alpha Delta chapter, Pura earned her Juris Doctorate and Masters in Business Administration degrees at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale.  During her time at the Shepard Broad School of Law, Pura served as editor of the Law Journal of International and Comparative Law and research assistant to Professor Angela Gilmore.

Prior to entering the private practice of law, Pura served as General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer of a multi-specialty healthcare practice management group.  She provided expert legal advice to senior level management and healthcare professionals.  She personally participated in overtaking the anesthesia, emergency room, and hospitalist services of hospitals and surgical centers to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of care.   Pura trained and certified in Six Sigma and Kaizen methodologies to eliminate inefficiencies and waste in the operating room.  Recognizing the need for the efficient delivery of healthcare, Pura organized and implemented office-based anesthesia services at several physician offices.  As a practice manager, Pura recruited healthcare providers and managed their administrative and clinical duties.  Pura’s interaction and experience with providers (including her father and 4 siblings), sparked her interest as an attorney protecting solely the best interest of physicians and other providers.  Pura took on to online communities and social media to discuss healthcare business and legal matters affecting healthcare practitioners.

Pura is also committed to giving back to the community, as well as, the legal profession.  Her first court appearance was as a court appointed guardian for abused and neglected children with the Guardian Ad Litem program.  Pura continued to inspire and encourage young women by building trusting and enduring friendships as a Big Sister with the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization.   She has also dedicated countless hours as a construction volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, building affordable homes for low-income families.
